Sick of riding BART with
no action on violations
Re: “BART riders stage ‘eat-in’ protest after police cited man for sandwich in viral video” (Eastbaytimes.com, Nov. 9):
I applaud the BART officer who cited the sandwich eater. For too many years BART has been ignoring violations: sleeping on the cars, gate jumping, loud music, panhandling, drinking and eating, littering, etc. I’m sick of riding BART and observing all the violations with no action taken.
More egregious is BART Director Janice Li deliberately flaunting the law and violating BART and state regulations by eating on a BART platform. She should be cited and thrown off the board; this irresponsible behavior is no way for a BART official to act.
What kind of director, in protest, turns on their own officer who is legitimately doing his job? We don’t need irresponsible directors who encourage violating the law; we need more BART police who cite violators if necessary.
Ignoring violations only encourages more misbehavior. How about making BART a more pleasant experience for law-abiding riders?
