BELMONT — Police are investigating how a woman came to be “fatally injured” on Cipriani Boulevard in Belmont early Monday morning.
Police and fire units found the woman while responding to a report of a person down in the roadway near Newlands Avenue. She was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital, where she later died.
The woman’s identity is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin, police said.
“Belmont police are actively investigating this incident, but do not have any witnesses or evidence indicating how the woman came to be injured,” police said in a news release.
Police said the woman appeared to have been walking north along the southbound lane of Cipriani just before being found in the roadway.
